I had to put my cat of 11 years to sleep. She had gotten me through everything, including my divorce. Losing her left a hole in my heart that felt impossible to fill.

I wasn’t actively looking for another cat, but I knew that when I saw the right one, I would feel it.

One day, I walked into a pet store and learned that a particular cat there was a rescue who had been treated horribly. The moment I met her, something inside me shifted. I thought, “I think we need each other.”
