One Rainy Lucky Night

After two very hot humid days in the summer, we had two of torrential downpours. My daughter Rebbecca was on her way home from a friend's house and happened to see something across the dark road. She stopped in the rain and picked up this little black rain soaked kitten.
When she was brought to the house, I took one look at her and told her, "This kitten might not last the night." She was so lethargic she couldn't hold her head up or have the strength to meow. We placed her in a box in the hallway, soaking wet on a towel , as her anus was extended with a bad case of diarrhea. The situation was dire and first thing in the morning we would take her to the animal hospital to see what could be done for her.
Throughout the night, my daughter and daughter-in-law took turns watching her, nursing, cleaning, and getting her to eat and drink. She somehow got up the strength to jump up and try to get out the box. We all thought it's a jack-in-the-box kitty. If it's a boy Jack, if it's a girl Jackie.
Through a 2-month stay at an animal shelter that rehabilitated her, and many vet visits since, my son adopted Jackie Silva as his own and she has been the apple of his eye. She has bloomed into a beautiful gorgeous young lady that gets spoiled more and more everyday.
It was fate that she would be a part of our family. Jackie now has an elderly brother my son adopted, along with two Siamese (mom and daughter) abandoned by neighbors that moved out. I often wondered what if my daughter didn't take that road. It was meant to be. We love you Jackie.
