Mittens jumped up onto the shelf outside my kitchen. She was the most beautiful calico I had ever seen.

I went outside to pet her, and she immediately purred and nestled in. I took her to the vet to check for a microchip, but she didn't have one, and no one came forward to claim her.

She was mine!

I scheduled an appointment to have her spayed, but when the day came, the vet started the procedure and had to stop after discovering that Mittens was pregnant.

She eventually gave birth to four beautiful kittens in my garage, and I found loving homes for all of them.

Now Mittens is happy, sleeping in my lap and being adored.

And I'm pretty happy about it, too!
