My younger son Keegan and I love pugs. We had never had one but we loved seeing them and watching videos of them.
We had been a 2 dog family since my son was 3 years old. He was now 12 and our first shelter dog Max had passed away at 13 years old. It had been over a year since he passed and little Molly our mini dachound didn't seem big enough to fill our big dogs shoes.

I thought maybe it was time to get a middle sized dog to share our house and yard with. We started looking for breeders of Pugs and did visit a few. They usually wanted 450$ to 550$ for a pup. One site we visited the breeder seemed very seedy and of the 2 babies one had a bad eye. It began to look like too much to handle.
I had been and continued to check the shelters. We had heard of the Regional Shelter and went there one day. That is when we met a Puggle named "Duke".

He was in the first kennel next to an energetic guy who couldn't get enough attention. He had very good pug features like big eyes, a wrinkly snout and the curled tail with all the right colorings. His head didn't look like it belonged on his body. He had a big stuffed animal head and skinny scrawny back end..I thought he was older. His teeth were very good and he was very friendly. We liked him.
We went home and checked some other options and I began talking to the boys about how expensive the pure pugs were and all the medical problems that are possible and how this puggle needed a home.
The vet had said that he was about a year or year and a half surprisingly. So it was decided that "Duke" was coming home with us. We needed a better name first, my son wanted "Oscar" and I wanted "Bogie", so "Boscar "he became!
He is full of it! A lover and a ruffian! And now quite filled out!
