Over 75 Shelter Dogs Catch Flight to Freedom to Find Forever Homes on East Coast
Andrea Powell
Before the sun started to rise on April 29, over 75 shelter dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds were carefully loaded on this month's Save-A-Heart Flight to Freedom.
They were all taken from overcrowded shelters in Louisiana and Alabama where their chances of finding a loving home were slim, especially for the dozen or so heartworm-positive dogs.

A few hours later, tails were wagging and excited barks could be heard as the adorable pups were unloaded from the plane and transported back to receiving shelters on the East Coast.

The dogs who tested positive for heartworm disease, like Lou, will undergo treatment prior to being adopted.

Their new journey is just beginning, and they are so grateful for your support.
With your support, in addition to the heartworm-positive dogs being relocated to safety, thousands of heartworm-positive shelter dogs received medication in Louisiana and Alabama via the Save a Heart initiative, saving even more lives.

We need your help to save more lives. Other highly adoptable dogs at overcrowded shelters are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space and adopters.

That's why with your continued support, The Animal Rescue Site sponsors a flight every month, called Flight to Freedom, to save the lives of homeless animals and give them the second chance they deserve.
Donate today to help us fund next month's life-saving flight.
