Help Save Sweet, Frightened Patches Before it's Too Late!

Pima Animal Care Center

Meet Patches, a gentle young pup who would love to find a home where he can work on being brave and confident. A supportive family who will show him that there's nothing to worry about would be just the ticket! The reality is that the shelter is very tough for more timid pups, and with so many dogs that need Pima Animal Care's help, it's hard to give every dog the attention that they deserve and need to thrive right now.

Patches has come a long way during his time with PACC, but he really needs to continue his journey in a loving home now. Here's what Patches' volunteer friends have said about him:

"Patches is a Mr. Sensitive kind of guy: quiet and shy with one of his ears always up and the other down. He loves to stroll around the park and is a very good walker. He doesn't pull and checks with his handler for directions. This cutie is a bit reserved when it comes to touch but you just have to take it slow and get to know him first. Deep down this timid dog is super sweet!"

"Patches is a good dog and a great walker. He doesn't pull and is attentive to his handler. You can set the pace and he walks politely next to you. I wish the public could see how beautifully he walks with volunteers. Patches is nervous and doesn't do well in the noisy shelter environment and often doesn't show well in his kennel because of it, but this gentle boy is simply scared. Patches needs a quiet home where he can decompress and a family who will be patient with him. He'd love many neighborhood strolls so he can get to know his people and build trust."

Patches has shared his kennel with other PACC pups at times and was appropriate, tolerant, and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He was interested in the other dogs but also enjoyed playing on his own in the sandbox. Patches would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure it's a good fit.

At approximately 3 years old, he's neutered, up to date on shots, and weighs about 50 pounds. He's been at the shelter in Tucson since September 24, 2022, and is past ready to go home, wherever that might be!

If you are interested in adopting or fostering dear Patches, please email pacc.adopt@pima.gov for an adoption or foster application or additional questions immediately. He's in Kennel D046, and his ID# is A787783. Please read on!!!!!

***PACC is at critical capacity, meaning that there are more dogs in the shelter than there is room. This has resulted in the creation of a euthanasia list, which identifies dogs who may be at risk of euthanasia in the near future. Patches and others are on that list! If you can adopt or foster, please ask about them today!!!!!
