One of "The Loudest Bird Calls In Nature" Captured On Video By San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo posted a video on TikTok of one of the "loudest calls in nature" and it is going viral.
The bird is aptly named Screaming Piha and is a species of passerine bird found mostly in the Amazon rainforest and tropical areas of South America. Their loud whistling song - which can hit 116 decibels - is said to be, "one of the signature sounds of Amazonia".
The zoo shared that their whistling is as "loud as a rock concert or sand blasting."
In the 8-second video, the bird does an impressive emergency alarm call that sounds just like police sirens.
@littleshopofwhorticultur, one of the millions of viewers, wrote, "10/10 would pull to the side of the road if I heard this siren".
People were mesmerized by the sound and said it reminded them of a crying newborn baby, a dinosaur, and the noise people make when they hit their shin.
The extremely loud scream wasn't the only thing that captured the attention of viewers. Many commented on how they never knew what a bird's tongue looked like until now.
One viewer named Kat states, "I’ve never wondered what a bird tongue looked like but here we are," and the zoo replied, "The more ya know".
