NC Shelter Dog Finds Forever Home After 633 Days At Shelter

For almost two years, a shy dog named Acorn waited at Outer Banks SPCA for his perfect match. He was showered with love and affection from staff and volunteers who refused to give up hope.

His patience has paid off and he found his forever home.

The shelter shared the good news on Facebook and wrote, "We have been waiting and hoping for this moment for a very long time, our staff and dedicated volunteer Brad have grown such an attachment to Acorn over the past few years. We remained hopeful that one day the right person would take the time with him and give him the home he deserves and our wish came true!"

After 633 days in the shelter, Acorn, the longest resident at the shelter, took his freedom ride!

One local supporter commented, "Oh Happy Day! I am actually crying happy tears for you sweet Acorn 👏🍀. It was indeed your lucky day!"

Acorn's new mom, Cathy Phemister Widzga, shared in the comments that the sweet boy is doing well and said, "My other dogs love him!"

One person responded by thanking her for adopting and wrote, "THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for making this boy part of your family. I met him from the shelter he came from and was SOO HAPPY when Outer Banks SPCA rescued him and gave him a chance."
