Street Puppy Barely Escapes Euthanasia But Refuses To Give Up

A tiny street puppy in South Africa refused to give up, despite all that life threw at him. Thanks to Sidewalk Specials, his persistence paid off.

As Sidewalk Specials shared on YouTube, Gunnar was born in the Groendall township of Franschoek in South Africa.

Unfonartuely, his owners decided to get rid of their dogs and handed Gunnar's family over to be euthanized.

Somehow, Gunnar was left behind and escaped death. While he was given a second chance at life, the sweet pup still had to survive on his own and things weren't looking promising for him.

However, rescuers with Sidewalk Specials heard about Gunnar and decided to save him.

When they took him in, he was suffering from anemic, tick bite fever, and eye infections. With a little love and care, Gunnar was soon on the road to recovery.

Since healing and gaining some strength, Gunnar was put up for adoption and it wasn't long before he found a wonderful family to call his own. According to The Dodo, a woman named Freya stepped up to welcome Gunnar into her home.

Now, Gunnar gets to run and play and enjoy life as a dog should! He gets to run on the beach, play fetch in the yard, and enjoy the company of other dogs.

He won't have to worry about finding food or running from people who want to hurt him. He can enjoy the simple things in life, like a good game of fetch, and rest easy at night.
