You've Helped Orphaned Opossums, Bats, and Other Babies Thrive

South Florida Wildlife Center

Wildlife rescues take in animals at all life stages who are suffering from a range of injures or health issues. However, orphaned babies are particularly delicate patients, requiring specialized care to survive. You’re helping ensure these tiniest of animals get that tailored care.

Thanks in part to your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a cause, and direct donations, we work with our partner Greater Good Charities to provide wildlife organizations with species-appropriate formula. Each type of animal has different nutritional needs to help them survive infancy and grow into adulthood, so they wouldn’t manage without it.

Among the recent recipients of this support was the South Florida Wildlife Center, which cares for at least 10,000 animals each year in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. You’re no stranger to supporting the organization, as you helped them care for two orphaned fox kits whose mother was caught in a trap.

HELP PROVIDE LIFESAVING CARE FOR ORPHANED WILDLIFE

In addition to helping these young patients, we were able to provide the wildlife center with baby essentials like formula and enrichment toys.

The center says, “Your thoughtful donations, from essential formula to enrichment toys, are truly appreciated and make a direct, meaningful impact on the daily care and recovery of our wildlife patients… The formula nourishes our youngest patients during critical stages of development, while enrichment toys help stimulate natural behaviors that are vital for successful rehabilitation and release. We are deeply grateful for your compassion and commitment to our work. Supporters like you play a vital role in helping us protect and heal the animals who depend on us.”

Among the beneficiaries was Kimchi the opossum, pictured below waking up after a check-up. Raccoons and bats were also cared for and on the path to release thanks to the nourishing formula, which the wildlife center says supports healthy growth, organ development, and immune function in babies that can’t nurse from their mothers.

These helpless babies have been getting the nutrition they need to become strong adults that can survive in the wild, thanks to you! If you’d like to continue to provide formula and enrichment items to baby wildlife, click below!
