Crazy Cute Special Needs Boxer-Mix Needs Rescuing After Nearly a Year of Shelter Life
A sweet boxer mix under the age of 3 has been waiting patiently for a forever home for nearly a year now, and he's over it. You see, shelter life doesn't exactly agree with most pets. While some do better than others, Marco desperately wants a forever home. To top it off, since he's been there, Marco has experienced some seizures, but the episodes are currently well-managed with the right medications. Due to this, Marco will need a family committed to his health and keeping up with his routine. In return, he has huge amounts of love to offer!
Marco, Polo
You won't have any trouble locating him because he's always around his humans. A neutered male, he weighs approximately 49 pounds, and shelter staff think he's about 2 years and 10 months old, so he's still a youngster. Marco is a handsome guy who was found as a stray and happily (at the time) hitched a ride to PACC to find his forever home. Unfortunately, he's been there since March 07, 2022, and he's so ready to go home today!
Going the Distance for Love
Shelter staff and volunteers at the Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, where Marco is currently being held, made the following comments about this sweet boy:
"Marco is one of my fave dogs at PACC. He has overcome some medical issues, and I am hoping he continues to stay healthy. Due to his medical issues, he walks a little differently and does lose his balance once in a while, but neither deters him from being an active dog. He leashes up easily, and I have great walks with him. In the play yard, he likes to explore and run around. He's such a handsome guy and very loving and sweet. Marco has a kennel mate now and seems to be doing well with him. Marco would be a great companion for a moderately active home. He's a wonderful dog just waiting to be noticed."
"Another unexpected gem! From the moment I met Marco at his kennel, he had my heart! He's easy to leash and very affectionate. As it was late already and warm, we went to a yard where he politely asked for some petting (which he thoroughly enjoyed). He took treats gently, and we just had a wonderful time with each other. He is one of these dogs that has charm. A beautiful dog inside and out."
Adoptable Dogs
As noted, Marco shares his kennel with a furry roommate and is tolerant and playful when meeting other dogs in playgroup. Still, PACC wisely feels that everyone should meet a new roommate before moving in together, so Marco would like to meet any resident dogs first to make sure it's a good fit. Marco would love to find a family who sees how very special he really is!
If you are interested in adopting Marco, please email pacc.adopt@pima.gov with additional questions. They can go over his medical needs with you. He's in Kennel D172, and his ID# is A771178.
