Former Pupil Waits 20 Years to Share a Beautiful Message With His Teacher
Many people wait their entire life to become a teacher and they do so because of the love they have for the job. It can be amazing to shape the lives of your students, but you don't always see the end results.
Every once in a while, however, you get a glimpse into the life of one of your former students, and it may just make you proud of what you do. That is how a teacher in the UK feels, and he has a message to prove it.
Mark Dent shared a Twitter exchange with a former pupil that contacted him after they hadn't seen each other for years. As the executive headteacher at Cambrai Primary School in Catterick Village, he helped many students, but this former student wanted to thank him for something that happened.
The amazing thing is that it was a thank you that was 20 years in the making.
The message he received said: "About 20 years ago, you told me at a parents evening I should do something in science, as I clearly love it. Graduated marine biology and just got a job offer today for microbiologist technologist at GSK. You are the first person to find out, as you’re the first person I thought of, weirdly. It’s really stuck with me all those years, and I’d just like to say thank you, you were right. Have a good day, mate."
Dent went on to post a follow-up on Twitter, saying how an ex-pupil had tracked him down and sent him the message. He said the moment he read it he was bursting with pride and emotion.

A comment from a follower said: "I’ve been at GSK for 24yrs , as has the girl who sat next to me in Chemistry, at the kind of school where most left at 16. I often think of our fabulous teacher, Mr. King, who sadly died before we graduated. So I’ll say thanks to you instead, for inspiring our new colleagues!"

I love to write and it keeps me busy. I've been working online, full time since 1999. When you can't find me at the keyboard, you'll find me getting as much as I can out of life. I enjoy living simply, playing games, visiting the beach, and spending time with my family.
