Stray dogs and cats are plentiful, but domestic rabbits can also find themselves out on the streets after losing their humans or being abandoned by someone who got them as a gift and didn’t actually want them. That was the story with one stray rabbit who required substantial medical care when she finally found safety, but her life is better today, thanks to your support.

Tissaia was taken in by Georgia House Rabbit Society in Kennesaw, Georgia, last year after she was abandoned while suffering from serious injuries. She was missing all but one toe on her rear left leg, while half of her right rear leg was missing. The rest was infected and had exposed bone.

As if that weren’t enough, her bottom lip was injured, she had ear mites, and she was suffering from several abscesses. It’s no surprise that she was terrified by the time she was taken in.

The rescue immediately got to work treating this badly injured, scared bunny. Her leg was amputated, but further procedures were required because the injury was so old that pulling enough skin up to cover the bone was difficult.

After all that, Tissaia also needed multiple antibiotics and pain medication for several months to get fully on the road to recovery.
