Elderly Couple Fleeing War in Ukraine Surrenders Cat to Give Him a Better Life

As the attacks continue in Ukraine, countless people who stayed behind in their villages are being forced to flee for their lives.

An elderly couple remained in their home to care for their animals but realized as the bombs continue to destroy homes that the best decision was to leave to save themselves and their beloved pets.

Their animals were surrendered to a local rescue so they could find new homes in a safe area. One of the cats named Barsik was taken in by Patron Pet Center.

He arrived in desperate need of dental care for his inflamed gums and infection that had sadly spread to the bone. They told us, "The cat had to have all his teeth extracted and the mucosa of his jaw plasticized."

Your donations helped Barsik get the nutritious food he needs to recover and helped build an area at the center dedicated to helping sick and injured cats heal.

Barsik is feeling much better and is slowly starting to heal. He will need to eat soft food and continues to be monitored by the medical team at the center.

Once he fully recovers, he will be put up for adoption and find a new home far away from the war. Thank you for your continued support to help animals in Ukraine.

Donate today to help feed more evacuated animals like Barsik and give them the second chance they deserve.
