Woman Rescues Orphaned Baby Bison And Adopts Her Into The Family

A woman in North Dakota welcomed a pet bison into her family after the orphaned animal was in need of some help.

In an interview with The Dodo, Emmie said that she received a call from a ranch asking if she wanted an orphaned bison, and she quickly said yes. She said, "When I first got her, she was actually a menace."

Despite Emmie only trying to help, Lucy would paw the ground and try to charge! "She didn't understand that I was trying to feed her," she explained.

Emmie went on to say that the survival rate for orphaned bison is "pretty low" and no one expected Lucy to survive long.

Despite her poor prognosis, Emmie was going to give Lucy her best shot at life, and miraculously, the baby bison survived!

Emmie told The Dodo, "After she lived through the weekend, I was like, 'Oh, now I have a baby bison who I'm responsible for.'"

Lucy continued to gain strength and grow, and it wasn't long before she was a permanent fixture in Emmie's life.
