She Was Out For Revenge, So She Married Her Half-Sister's One True Love

Should this woman pay for her mother's sin?

Should she be hated by her mother's husband and their child years after they have forgiven the woman who betrayed her sacred vows? Why should the child of an affair be punished for someone else's guilt?

These were the unanswered questions of a young woman who grew up loveless and unprotected in a dysfunctional family. She shared her story on Reddit's r/TrueOffMyChest to finally free herself from the anger and heartache she's been bottling inside for many years.

With the username u/Bobhaircutalice, she started her post with: "I (29f) was an affair baby between my mom and dad. My mom was already married to my stepdad and had my half-sister (32f), whose name will be R. R has always hated me for some unknown reason. I never gave her any reasons to hate me as we grew up together; she just did. Growing up, I spent more time with my mom than my dad, who traveled a lot due to his work, but when he was in town, I always took the opportunity; it was the only time I could be away from my SD and R."

According to OP, R had been a terrible half-sister to her and would always destroy the things that came from her dad. There was also an instance when R cut off her hair while she was sleeping, and she had to attend high school with a bob hairstyle. Their mom did scold her, but OP's stepdad would encourage his daughter to do more vile things to her.

However, their story as half-sisters took a turn that would affect their future, as OP continued to relate: "In HS, I was in a graphic design class, and that’s how I met R’s one true love. At first greetings, I didn’t know. I would stay after school to finish my in-class assignments for that class, and he would be there to use the computers to do some drawing he had saved in the computer. The computer he used was right next to mine, so we sat together when I would stay. We spoke once, where he said he liked my hairstyle. I was the only girl in school with really short hair, so I did stand out a bit."

However, R came by one day to spy on her one true love, and that was when she saw OP sitting beside him. It made R very furious, and when they got home, she slapped OP in the face after accusing her of trying to steal her guy. From then on, OP would do her best to avoid R's true love until her crazy half-sister had to go to college.

But OP's ordeal didn't end there, as she further revealed that her dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. When R learned of this, she sent OP a video which came from a TV show that's called "Shameless" with an insulting caption and revolting footage. Next to the video was a photo that was just as malicious and disgusting.

The following year, OP's dad died, and R continued to mistreat OP. But OP focused on pursuing what her dad wanted her to do with the money that he left her and a few properties.

What OP didn't expect was that more blessings would be coming her way. She bumped into R's true love just a few weeks after, and they had a chance to chat briefly while she was waiting for a friend. When her friend arrived, they parted ways. However, a few days later, this friend of hers told OP that R's true love had asked for her info, and she gave it to him so they could get in touch again.

OP wrote, "I’m going to be honest; when she told me this, I so wanted to use him and get back at my sister, knowing how much she loved him. But I know how it feels to be hurt, and so I added him on Snapchat and texted him to meet me at a coffee shop. When we met at our local coffee shop, I was honest with him about why I reached out and told him how crazy R is. He wasn’t surprised. He went on, telling me the things she would pull on the girls he would talk to and how she would try to sabotage his relationships when they were in HS."

Well, it didn't take long before the two started dating after that honest conversation. Their relationship eventually turned serious, and they have decided it was time to get married after 3 years. Since they're both successful in their respective careers, they wanted to go for a big wedding.

What happened next? OP shared the following, "Now here comes R. R sadly still stalks my fiancé. He isn’t much of a social media person, so he doesn’t post much, but when he does, it’s on his Instagram story. He recently posted a picture of my hand with the engagement ring, captioning it, 'After three years, next up is the wedding ring.' And yes, his Instagram is private, and he has her blocked, but there are a few people who tell her friends. and they tell her; it can’t be helped - some people live for the drama."

Since she's not close to her mom, the older woman didn't have an idea about OP being engaged. When R complained to her mom that her true love was engaged, they did not know who the bride was.

That was when OP had an idea how to get even with her half-sister. She began revealing "clues" on her social media accounts, where she had unblocked R so she could see them. She also made her Instagram public.

The result? OP revealed, "And behold, I get messages on Instagram where she demanded to know if I was the girl J was going to marry. She said things like 'No, he can never like girl like you,' and 'You know how much he means to me.' I left her on read. Yesterday, I posted a picture of the two of us. The pictures were taken on Saturday, where we took his family out to inform them of our wedding plans and how they are officially invited, with invitation given to them. I posted three pictures, one normal one is when we first started dating, when he proposed and the one on Saturday with his family with the invitation in the air as they surround us. Caption being, 'Proud to announce I am getting married this year to the love of my life! Can’t wait for a lifetime full of blessings alongside you.'"

There were more hateful messages from R and even calls from their mom. But OP didn't read or answer any of them.

And the latest development in this half-sister's story? This is the end of OP's post: "Today, I went on Instagram and saw over eighty messages of insults from her, one being how ugly I looked with my short bob hair, which I cut for this occasion. To which I replied, 'interesting, J doesn’t think so. Funny actually, you know, J confessed to me after our second date that he thought in HS my Alice Cullen haircut, as you described it before, was the reason that grabbed his attention back then. He thought I looked very cute! Guess you did had a reason to feel threatened that time...as he found me attractive even then.' After she read it, I made my account private and blocked her. Now I’m thinking about doing it again when we’re getting married or changing my bio to his last name? Who knows."

What did the AITA community say? They congratulated OP and wished her marriage to be filled with happiness. But they also warned her to be more careful of her half-sister, who's notorious for her crazy and destructive behavior.

For more than 20 years now, I’ve been devoting my heart, energy, and time to fulfilling my dream, which – many people may agree – is not among the easiest aspirations in life. Part of my happiness is having been able to lend a hand to many individuals, companies, and even governments as an investigative journalist, creative writer, TV director, and radio broadcaster.

At home, I spend my free time learning how to cook various cuisines. Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and banoffee pie are my favorite desserts. Playing with our dogs, Mushu and Jerusalem, is also a special part of my day. And, of course, I read a lot – almost anything under the sun. But what really makes me feel alive is meeting people from various walks of life and writing about their stories, which echo with the tears and triumph of an unyielding spirit, humanity, and wisdom.
