Pregnant Woman Gets Blasted by Redditors for Her Cruel Words

"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

This teaching is among the unforgettable words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. To love one's enemy -- such a difficult thing for many people to do. How can you easily replace fury with love? How can you easily forget the pain inflicted by those people who despise you? How can you just forget about acts of injustice?

And yet, many have done their best to do it -- and found joy and inner peace.

Real stories like that are heartwarming.

But this particular woman is puzzling. In her post, she did not mention any offense that her cousin has committed against her. But her attitude toward this relative who's been reaching out to her from miles away is ice-cold.

And just like other shallow-minded people, she wants to justify her behavior by posting her story on Reddit's popular r/AmItheA--hole forum, expecting these new-age commenters to share her values and beliefs.

But with the AITA community, you can always expect the unexpected. Many of the members are known to be quite harsh in their criticisms, but they have this brand of wisdom that can be impressive most of the time.

Here is this woman's post under the handle u/GreekAdventure132: "I (25F) recently found out that I'm pregnant. The only people who know are my husband, mom, brothers, and my husband's family. I have a cousin (23F) who I haven't seen in about 10 years as she lives in Belgium and I live in the US. From time to time, she reaches out to me."

Well, one day, OP received a text message from this cousin. And she was congratulating her on her pregnancy. OP felt shocked. How could this cousin of hers have known? Moreover, she didn't want any of their extended families to know about her pregnancy yet.

How did she respond? OP wrote, "I told her it was such a random thing for her to say, and I brushed it off. She had said that her mom (my aunt) had told her, and she just wanted to give her congrats. I told her I wasn't pregnant, and she started apologizing, saying it was probably a miscommunication. I just left her on read."

But then this well-meaning cousin sent her another text message, saying it was OP's mom who informed her mom and she was now feeling confused.

OP's next response? "I told her it would've been better she didn't ask me at all and that I would've wanted to announce it instead on social media. I deleted the chat, and she just left me on read. I don't know if I reacted a bit rude to her. So, AITA?"

Really? Did she have to ask? I think we all know the cousin was just trying to be kind and didn't deserve that kindof treatment. Next time, OP will need to make it clear to her mother that she isn't supposed to spread the word.

I'd rather be rude by not giving you a hug
Than to be rude by punching you in the face

I'd rather be rude by cutting conversations with you
Than to be rude by telling what I really feel about you

I'd rather give out tight politeness
Than to be loosely rude" -- Rude by Chalsey Wilder

For more than 20 years now, I’ve been devoting my heart, energy, and time to fulfilling my dream, which – many people may agree – is not among the easiest aspirations in life. Part of my happiness is having been able to lend a hand to many individuals, companies, and even governments as an investigative journalist, creative writer, TV director, and radio broadcaster.

At home, I spend my free time learning how to cook various cuisines. Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and banoffee pie are my favorite desserts. Playing with our dogs, Mushu and Jerusalem, is also a special part of my day. And, of course, I read a lot – almost anything under the sun. But what really makes me feel alive is meeting people from various walks of life and writing about their stories, which echo with the tears and triumph of an unyielding spirit, humanity, and wisdom.
