After Rescuing 7 Puppies, Woman Begs the Public to Stop Dumping Puppies

"Approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.1 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. We estimate that the number of dogs and cats entering U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 7.2 million in 2011. The biggest decline was in dogs (from 3.9 million to 3.1 million)," according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

This decline in dogs entering U.S. shelters was good news, including the decreasing number of shelter dogs being euthanized annually. Still, it's heartbreaking to note that 390,000 dogs get euthanized every year.

Singapore's Animal & Veterinary Service shares the following information on how to be a responsible pet owner:

  • Provide your pet with nutritious and balanced meals regularly.
  • Your pet should have clean and comfortable housing.
  • You must groom your pet regularly.
  • Train your pet.
  • Take your pet to a vet for regular check-ups and treatment when it is sick.
  • Devote time to play and bond with your pet.
  • Do not let your pet stray in public places, and clean up after it when it poops.
  • Get your pet neutered or spayed to avoid unwanted offspring.
  • Have your pet microchipped so you can be easily contacted when it gets lost.

In case you're no longer able to take care of your pet, here are the humane and legitimate actions you can take:

  • Ask friends, relatives, and neighbors who would be willing to adopt your pet.
  • Advertise on social media and screen possible adopters to ensure that your pet will receive love and proper care.
  • Get in touch with Animal Welfare Groups and request help in rehoming your pet.

Don't dump pets anywhere!

This is the heartfelt appeal of a woman who has recently rescued seven puppies from an interstate highway.

There were eight of them, but one of them got hit by a car and died. The puppies were very skinny, very hungry, and full of parasites. The rescuer and her family took them to a vet for deworming and vaccination.

At home, they were bathed and fed with love. You can see from the video how hungry each puppy was for food and especially for affection.

Stories like this of dogs and puppies being dumped are heartbreaking. So, please, don't dump animals like garbage.

For more than 20 years now, I’ve been devoting my heart, energy, and time to fulfilling my dream, which – many people may agree – is not among the easiest aspirations in life. Part of my happiness is having been able to lend a hand to many individuals, companies, and even governments as an investigative journalist, creative writer, TV director, and radio broadcaster.

At home, I spend my free time learning how to cook various cuisines. Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and banoffee pie are my favorite desserts. Playing with our dogs, Mushu and Jerusalem, is also a special part of my day. And, of course, I read a lot – almost anything under the sun. But what really makes me feel alive is meeting people from various walks of life and writing about their stories, which echo with the tears and triumph of an unyielding spirit, humanity, and wisdom.
