<p>Dear Commissioner Hamburg,</p><p>I am concerned about the presence of lead in the cosmetics that are being marketed and sold to the American public today. Lead can be found in almost every type of make-up, from mascara, to lipstick, to nail polish.</p><p>It's scientifically proven that lead has the power to cause serious health problems. For example, lead poisoning can damage the nervous system, impair brain function, poison the blood, cause kidney failure, and even more. Why, then, is this harmful metal still allowed for use in products we apply to our bodies every day? This seems completely irresponsible and totally antithetical to good public health.</p><p>I am writing to ask that you ban the use of lead in cosmetics, and for that matter all products that are to be used for human consumption. It's time to start acting on behalf of our health, even if it means putting in a little more time and research to come up with viable alternatives.</p><p>Thank you.</p>
