Millions of Americans are going hungry while Washington delays—your voice can help restore full SNAP benefits and ensure every family in this country has enough to eat.

Stand Up To Restore Full SNAP Benefits For Eligible American Families

Across the United States, more than 42 million people rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to keep food on the table. But this November, millions of households have received only half of their usual benefits — or none at all — because of a prolonged funding gap and administrative delays1,2. While courts ordered the government to continue issuing benefits, many families still wait as state systems struggle to reload accounts and federal funds run dry3.

For parents, veterans, seniors, and low-income workers, these delays are devastating. The average monthly SNAP allotment barely covers two weeks of groceries under normal conditions. Now, with reduced payments and late disbursements, the shelves of food pantries are emptying fast, and local charities report a surge in visitors seeking help4. Some families are skipping meals. Others are relying on credit cards or cutting back on rent and medication to buy food.

Federal Leaders Must Act Now

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) hold the authority to fully restore SNAP benefits. Contingency funds exist to protect Americans during emergencies, yet the government has chosen to release only partial payments while Congress remains at an impasse5. This is not an abstract policy debate — it is a matter of survival. The people most affected are those already working long hours, caring for children, or living with disabilities. They are doing everything right and still going hungry.

Hunger Can’t Wait

Every day that passes without full restoration of benefits deepens this crisis. We call on the Secretary of Agriculture, the Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to act immediately. Americans should never have to rely on food banks because of political delay.

Add your name now to demand the full restoration of SNAP benefits and help ensure no American goes hungry.

The Petition

To the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Office of Management and Budget,

Millions of Americans depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to meet their most basic human need: food. Yet this November, millions of families, seniors, veterans, and children have received only half of their usual benefits—or none at all—due to the ongoing funding shortfall and administrative delays. We urge the Secretary of Agriculture, the Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to act swiftly to fully restore SNAP benefits to all eligible Americans.

SNAP is not a handout. It is a lifeline that allows working parents to keep food on the table, older adults to live with dignity, and children to grow and learn. When benefits are delayed or reduced, households go hungry, local food banks become overwhelmed, and communities already struggling with high costs of living fall deeper into crisis. The consequences of inaction ripple far beyond the checkout line—they harm public health, economic stability, and the moral fabric of our nation.

The USDA and OMB hold the power to relieve this suffering. Through emergency funding measures, contingency allocations, or executive prioritization, federal leadership can ensure that no American is left to choose between rent and dinner, medicine and meals. Courts have affirmed that contingency funds exist for this very purpose: to safeguard the nation’s most vulnerable during times of uncertainty. Using these resources fully, transparently, and urgently is not only permissible—it is necessary.

This is a moment that calls for compassion and humanity. Restoring SNAP in full is an act of national decency that reaffirms our shared belief that hunger has no place in America. It is a recognition that those who work hard, serve their country, or care for families should never face an empty refrigerator because of political gridlock.

We, the undersigned, call on the USDA and OMB to act immediately to restore 100% of SNAP benefits to all eligible recipients. Swift action will protect millions from needless hardship, sustain food security nationwide, and strengthen the moral and economic health of our country.

A nation that feeds its people invests in its future. By restoring SNAP now, we ensure a stronger, more compassionate America for all.

Sincerely,
