Vice President of Publishing
After several years working in the film post-production industry Alec dabbled in project management before becoming immersed in web publishing. He joined GreaterGood as a manager of one of the organization's publishing teams in 2012; later becoming Director of Ad Operations before overseeing the entire Publishing team, developing and monetizing engaging cause-oriented content.
An avowed dog lover he fits right in at the Animal Rescue Site. As a father of two young boys he can be found coaching t-ball or soccer and hiking in the Washington woods.
Ashley C. Andersen Zantop
Chief Operating Officer
Ashley leads and serves the teams responsible for strategic and operational planning, revenue, fundraising, audience development and engagement, analytics, business development, brand, content and product marketing and development; paid and organic media channels; commerce and publishing experience; vertical manufacturing and fulfillment. She has spent over 20 years in media, technology, publishing and retail for global consumers, education and nonprofits working in North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, the UK and South America.
Previously, Ashley served as Chief Content Officer for Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books, digital solutions and services, literacy programs, and K–12 professional development resources for classrooms, school libraries and home. Before that, Ashley was CEO, President and Publisher at Trudy Corporation, later Palm Publishing, responsible for the group's family of global children’s imprints and media businesses. Ashley has also served as an industry consultant, advocate and board member for K - 12 and higher education, social impact organizations and equity investors.
Ashley is the author of NOW WHAT? THE CREATIVE WRITER'S GUIDE TO SUCCESS AFTER THE MFA. She is the co-founder and former co-president of the Fairfield University MFA Alumni Association. Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Michigan and teaching certifications K- 5 and 6 - 8. She also holds a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing from Fairfield University with concentrations in fiction and screenwriting and certificates in media strategy from Harvard Business School; in executive function in the classroom from the Harvard Graduate School of Education; and in design thinking from Ideo U.
Ashley lives with her husband and daughter in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the perfect place for the family to run, hike, bike, coach football, play chess, do yoga, snowboard (with more enthusiasm than skill), read, write, binge shows, eat and shovel snow.
Chief Financial Officer
Cameron joined GreaterGood as its Chief Financial Officer in May 2019. Cameron oversees the Company’s financial operations which includes leading corporate accounting, financial planning and analysis and business operations. He brings more than 25 years of financial management, customer success and sales operations experience to GreaterGood.
Prior to GreaterGood, Cameron served as the SVP and Chief Financial Officer of Onvia, Inc. (Nasdaq:ONVI), a publicly traded business intelligence company, and as a manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLC with a focus on technology and financial services companies.
Cameron believes that Winter is an underrated season.
CUSA General Counsel
Dave began practicing law in Seattle in 1992, after graduating from the University of Washington School of Law. Dave joined Stafford Frey Cooper in 1995, became a shareholder in 2002, and is now the managing partner of the successor firm Bailey Onsager. His practice now includes a number of different types of civil litigation, most relating to either construction or insurance. Other aspects of his practice include surety and fidelity work, and personal injury claims.
Dave's practice includes representing plaintiffs as well as defendants. For example, Dave represents a number of plaintiff condominium homeowners associations, seeking funds to repair construction defects at their properties under the Washington Condominium Act. By taking an approach that emphasizes negotiation and efficient resolution wherever possible, Dave has recovered millions of dollars for his client associations over the last few years.
Dave lives in Seattle and can be found most evenings and weekends enjoying the company of his family and friends. Dave enjoys skiing, running, golf and baseball.
President and Co-Founder
Co-founder Greg Hesterberg was chairman of two statewide consumer and environmental organizations (MaryPIRG and PIRGIM) while in college at the University of Maryland and law school at the University of Michigan. After school Greg ran a local publishing company in Ann Arbor Michigan for over 20 years. As the Internet grew he developed an early local entertainment website and became an Ebay seller. He became intrigued by the potential this new concept held to bring people together and help charities and other non-profits raise money and increase their impact. He co-founded CharityUSA.com with his long-time business partner Tim Kunin in 1999 to make that happen. In 2001 when the Internet had its "dot-com crash" and they were able to purchase one of the causalities of the crash, GreaterGood.com which included The Hunger Site. The sites relaunched just prior to 9/11. From that came other click to give sites including the Animal Rescue Site and eventually Greater Good Charities.
Greg is currently President of GreaterGood.com. He splits his time between the company offices in Seattle Washington and his home in Santa Barbara California. He is a Greater Good Charities board member.
SVP of Ecommerce
James began his career as a copywriter in 2008 and joined GreaterGood in 2011 as an email marketer. He moved to GreaterGood’s Ecommerce team in 2013 and now oversees the development of the company's online retail stores, marketing shared services, and fulfillment operations.
When not at work, he is spending time with his wife and two dogs, traveling, watching sports, and building things in his garage.
Director of Human Resources
Betsy has been a part of the GreaterGood team since 2017, serving the organization as the director of human resources. Betsy believes in servant-leadership, working to enrich the lives of others, building better organizations, and helping others to grow both professionally as well as personally. Starting her HR career in a small company serving as the only human resources staff member for 300 employees, which rapidly grew to more than 800 individuals, she holds experience in all areas of the human resource function, including: staffing, compensation, employee relations, benefit administration, coaching, training and development, and process improvement.
Unfortunately, due to allergies, Betsy does not have any pets, much to the disappointment of her children. However, she loves animals and appreciates everything GreaterGood does to support not only people, but also our furry friends. When not at work Betsy enjoys travel with her family, spending time on the water with family and friends, and DIY home improvements with her husband.
Chief Email Marketing & Communications Officer
Jessica leads a team of brilliant copywriters, marketers, graphic designers, and email developers that connects the GreaterGood community of millions to the causes they care about and ways to make a positive difference in the world. Along with her team, Jessica seeks to deliver a personalized brand experience for email subscribers that drives lasting relationships and continually expands GreaterGood's capacity for positive impact.
Jessica studied English literature and writing and fine arts at Eastern Michigan University. Early in her career, her interest in the intersection of art and commerce, and desire to examine nonprofit and for-profit models, led her to positions at the nonprofit Artrain, a traveling museum, and cultural and community catalyst; the historic Michigan Theater, an award-winning nonprofit film and live-theater performance venue; and as an editor at the online All Movie Guide.
In 1999, connections forged through her work at the theater led her to an opportunity to help build a new model for online activism, CharityUSA.com, which later merged with the Seattle-based GreaterGood. Jessica believes that the business sector has a unique opportunity and responsibility to influence society and the state of the world; she strives daily to maximize this potential at GreaterGood.
People who do the "hard, right thing," the power of creativity, and the beauty and resilience of nature inspire Jessica. In her personal life, she prioritizes her activities around these inspirations in addition to spending time with her two spirited kids (her greatest teachers), her partner, Jay, and her beloved pets.
Co-President & Chief E-Commerce Officer
Julia graduated Central Washington University (CWU) in 1995 with a double major in Finance & Marketing. She spent 5 years at one of the leading computer reseller companies in the country doing print marketing for key graphic accounts before moving to GreaterGood.com. She’s been part of GreaterGood.com since 1999 and has held many different roles during her tenure. Currently she leads our very talented buying team who develops and brings to market custom product from around the world. The team has a passion for our variety of causes and designing products that our customers will find unique and of high quality, this is done through strong supplier relationships that have been cultivated for years. The customer service team also reports up to Julia which ensures our customers are happy with their purchases and is our customers voice back into the company. She has an extremely strong passion for the mission of GreaterGood. She has the wonderful opportunity to do work that she loves while also making an impact helping people, pets, and our planet.
Outside of work she enjoys being on the board of Greater Good Charities. Born and raised in Washington, she loves the outdoors and being on the water. She loves spending time with her family and traveling with them. She met her husband through CWU and they have two teenage children.
Great Life Publishing President & Co-Owner
Rian joined the company in Sept 2003. He started as one of the original e-commerce copywriters, and has worn many hats: e-commerce management, warehouse assistant manager, ad trafficking and paid traffic management. In 2009 he founded and scaled the company's social media and publishing business models which ultimately led him to the Chief Marketing Officer position within GreaterGood. In 2016 he invested and became partners with CharityUSA in the Great Life Publishing (GLP) venture, which continues today. GLP’s foundation is its 12Tomatoes property, which is one of the largest social-content food and recipe platforms in the world with nearly 10M subscribers on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and email. Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder
Tim is the co-founder and CEO of CharityUSA a mission-driven online business started in Michigan in 1999, which purchased GreaterGood based in Seattle, Washington in 2001. Over 20 years, GreaterGood and the business units of CharityUSA have donated over $60 million of dollars funding and needed materials to charities. GreaterGood has become the largest Click-to-Give site in the world and one of the leading resellers of equitably sourced artisan products in the USA.
Tim has traveled to over 60 countries working with charity partners and sourcing artisan products which make a difference. A life-long environmentalist and outdoorsman, Tim has hiked and paddled thousands of miles in wilderness areas of Canada, Patagonia, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Israel, Turkey, Rwanda, New Zealand and the USA. He is particularly fond of far northern and southern areas like the Brooks Range, North Slope, barren lands of Canada, Baffin Island, Tierra del Fuego, and Patagonia.
Tim is extremely proud that GreaterGood is the single largest supporter of the Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot, Thailand which provides a birthing clinic for several hundred thousand stateless migrants and refugees from one of the world’s longest running civil wars. Tim is also proud to have been the largest and longest term supporter of Rescue Bank (a food bank network for shelters and rescues in the USA) and to have helped fund several large nature reserves in Argentina and Kenya. He is a board member of the Wildlife Friendly Enterprise Network and the Friends of Matenwa.
Tim grew up in Minnesota, and met his wife Susan Guzmich while attending the University of Michigan, where he walked across the state to support returnable bottles in 1976. Sue and Tim have two children, Mara and Daniel (their biggest accomplishments). His goal is for GreaterGood to have donated over $100 million to charity; like his personal heroes, Doug and Kris Tompkins and Paul Newman.
