Acacia Creations Boilerplate — DO NOT DELETE
Acacia Creations has been making eco-friendly jewelry, gifts, and home accents at their fair-trade studio in Kenya since 2007. Since then, the tangible benefits of fair-trade are visible in the original group of artists who now have money in savings, have sent their children to school, and are moving into the middle class, one handmade item at a time.
Virginia, a single mother and star of the jewelry-making team, joined Acacia Creations in 2009. Before Acacia, she taught herself to make jewelry and sold her pieces at Nairobi's markets until post-election violence drove the tourists away. She came to work for Acacia, and was able to support her family, put her daughter Rachael through school, and secure a loan to move into a new home, leaving her abusive partner. Rachael is now at the top of her class, and Virginia trains many of the newer jewelry makers.
The mission of Acacia Creations has always been to improve lives in a long-lasting and sustainable way, creating jobs, providing training, and giving back to communities through education and healthcare initiatives. They work directly with hundreds of craftspeople in Nairobi, Kenya and across East Africa to improve their skills and product designs.
