Carlos and Patricio are designers from El Salvador. They work to see progress for artisans in low-income communities. They provide marketable designs that can be sold to generate a decent and steady income so artisans can support their families through their crafting abilities.

"As Salvadorans, we feel a tremendous social responsibility," the men confide. "We firmly believe that if we help one another, we can get ahead in life.

"We really feel connected when we receive stories about the artisans we've been able to help in this entire process. It's wonderful to be able to work with them.

"Together, we each give a hand up and we know we can go far with these close relationships.

"It's exciting to think that some day we could be recognized along with the artisans who craft our quality designs.

"But even more important is the alliance where we help one another, while creating unique handicrafts that rescue and preserve the cultural traditions of our region."
