NOVICA Artisan Laura Sozzi
Laura Sozzi
“I began this beautiful project more than seven years ago; but I have worked in the field of leather and footwear for more than 15 years.
“I decided to become independent and create a line that would allow me to showcase the beauty of Mexican tradition in a more emblematic way. So, I worked on a beautiful design that included one of the most iconic and traditional clothing articles of Mexico, the rebozo.
“Our project began with the beautiful vision of offering designs that showcased a fusion of Italian and Mexican traditions?—since my husband is Italian?—maintaining the beautiful essence of both. It has been a great way of learning and growing through constant effort, failing an infinite amount of times and not letting myself give up, continuing to persevere. This is how I have lost a lot of my fear.
“One of the aspects that I am inspired to express to my collaborators is originality. I work in a team with passion and honesty. Without them, we would not be where we are today.
“The materials that I use are leather and synthetic threads, such as nylon, giving a special touch to the shawl and adding brilliance thanks to its composition. I love that the design and the origin of the materials equally reflect our beautiful tradition and culture as a hardworking village. You could say that this is a challenging and gratifying mission.
“We want to continue being a strong source of constant work for each one of our artisans while also showcasing the magic of Mexican traditions.”
