Update (August, 2019)
“I have been making beautiful designs in Mexican silver for 20 years. As an artist, I felt a very special attraction when making creative and innovative designs in jewelry. I was always in constant search of how to apply my creativity, and it was through this search that I found a part of me.
“I have had the opportunity to study outside the country, and that has made me more aware of the wonderful artisan techniques in our country. There are no others that are equal.
“I design each piece manually; I like to feel the materials. I think being in touch leaves something of you in them.
“I use beautiful techniques such as openwork, lost wax and embossing. All with the roots of our beautiful Taxco, Guerrero, which is the cradle of Mexican silver. Each technique has taught me great patience and perseverance. I am always creating new designs.
“I think one of the challenges that has marked me the most is to identify my personal touch. That's where the magic is---what you show in your designs, and what distinguishes you. That was precisely when NOVICA arrived and taught me to create a standardization. Thanks to their enormous support, I can share myself in other nations, and grow steadily and strongly.”
Original Artisan Story
"My name is Priscila. I was born in Mexico on November 8, 1969. My father is from Colombia and my mother from Peru. I love these countries as well as Mexico; they are so unique and full of culture.
"My initial contact with jewelry came when I was 15 years old, when one day as I was looking through my father's tools I found a thin iron wire, which I decided to turn into a pair of earrings. I loved the way they came out so much that I wore them every day. I was so proud of them!
"When I was older I had the chance to attend the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Milan. It was to become an enriching experience for me, as it taught me a lot about European art and culture, which I integrated into my already multicultural background.
"I make my pieces with love and care. My designs blend Mexico's color and traditions with modern elements. I love when a piece is finished; it is great to see with my own eyes how my original idea became alive!
"I have participated in several exhibitions, and Peru's national newspaper, El Comercio, has featured an article about my work.
"I really hope Novica clients will love my pieces, and I thank them beforehand for wearing them!"
