Shelter animals have only one gift they want this holiday season - a forever home. 

'Tis the season of giving, and we want to give shelter pets a home for the holidays. Help us fly 40 dogs and nearly 30 cats to freedom on December 23. We need your help to complete this life-saving mission.

Save a Heart is a life-saving initiative of Greater Good Charities that aims to reduce shelter euthanasia in overcrowded shelters by preventing and treating heartworm disease in shelter dogs, while transporting adoptable asymptomatic heartworm-positive dogs to safety.  

Together with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, The Animal Rescue Site, Save a Heart transports hundreds of asymptomatic heartworm-positive dogs to new homes each year.

The animals on this flight are at-risk pets; without the flight, they might never find their loving homes due to the overcrowding that often happens in shelters. Sending these pets from under-resourced shelters to shelters with empty spaces will give them a second chance at life AND the adoption they deserve.

Meet Tommy!

The terrier mix is ready to find someone to love unconditionally. His caretakers shared, "Tommy is a sweet little guy who loves cozy cuddles just as much as festive playtime—whether that’s a brisk winter walk or a few minutes of fun before settling in close." 

He gets along well with other dogs and just wants a home and family of his own with a soft bed.

Meet Pickles & Sassafras!

Just one look at those adorable faces and you will fall in love. These 12-week-old tabby kittens are ready to bring joy and laughter to your life.

Their caretakers shared, "Pickles (male) is curious and steady, happiest when he’s exploring or curled up nearby. Sassafras (female) is playful and observant, quick to engage and even quicker to purr."

They are ready to find a home together or separately where they can continue to grow and thrive. 

Meet Bells!

Bells arrived at the shelter as a stray alongside her puppies. All her puppies have found homes, and it is now time for her to find her special someone. 

The shelter shared, " Bells is very friendly, eager to learn, and genuinely wants to please. She enjoys being around people and thrives when given guidance, routine, and encouragement. Her intelligence and willingness make her a wonderful companion for someone ready to build a bond together."

Every month we fly a group of deserving pets. Help us fund the next Flight to Freedom now! Just $10, helps cover the fuel costs of flying a pet 250 miles towards safety. 

In shelters across the country, highly adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized just because the shelters are overcrowded. In other areas, shelters have a shortage of adoptable pets. We're transporting these pets to shelters where they're immediately adopted.
