Meet Stout. 

He was dumped at a shelter along with five other Yorkshire terriers by a breeder in South Florida. The two-year-old intact male was severely underweight and skittish around humans. 

His whole life he was kept outside in a cage in the sweltering heat and never received veterinary care.

Stout was taken in by Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida and examined by a vet. He was diagnosed with an ear infection, dental disease, and showed signs of pancreatitis.   

After receiving proper medication and care, he found a loving foster home to recover. Just a few days later he was rushed to the emergency vet. 

The sick pup was lethargic and wouldn't eat. He stayed at the hospital for several day to get IV fluids and slowly started to recover. Doctors believe that he is suffering from severe pancreatitis. 

His devoted foster mom feeds him chicken and rice and even gives him snacks of banana to help the picky eater get enough food.

Stout continues to struggle with digestive issues and needs more tests to help him heal. 

Greater Good Charities' Emergency Animal Medical fund is helping with his accumulating medical bills but needs your support. Every day sick and injured animals arrive at shelters who are unable to afford medical care. That is where your donations come to the rescue. 

The fund was created to give these animals a second chance. Help Stout recover from years of neglect and experience love for the first time. 

Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment. Stout's spunky personality is starting to show but he has a long road to recovery.
