When Greek photographer Odysseas Froilan dropped his GoPro beneath a cruise ship, he likely expected to see fish. Maybe a glimpse of the seabed. What he captured, however, left millions of viewers shaken and stunned.

In a seven-minute video posted to YouTube, Froilan sent his camera plummeting into the sea during the day and again at night. In broad daylight, the footage showed schools of fish darting around the lens as the GoPro tumbled slowly to the ocean floor.
