Over 100 Shelter Cats Will Board Flight to Freedom to Find Forever Homes

June is National Adopt a Cat Month, and what better way to celebrate than by saving hundreds of shelter cats and kittens on this month’s Flight to Freedom.

The sad reality is that shelters are overflowing with homeless cats and kittens just as "kitten season" begins. Countless cats are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space and adopters.

The Animal Rescue Site is teaming up with Greater Good Charities' Good Flights to fly over 100 cats out of overcrowded shelters in California to purr-manent homes in Oregon.

Your donations will help fly cats to freedom. Cat-astic, right?!

These cats will get a second chance to find a family of their own. The flight will take place on June 13 with your support.

There are so many benefits to adopting a cat, aside from the obvious entertainment and cat puns. Cat owners and researchers will confirm that felines are good for your mental and physical health.

Benefits of Adopting a Cat

  • Unconditional Love - Cats are great companions for the young and old. They are always there to greet you (or to glance quickly in our direction) or to cuddle with (maybe) when we need a hug.
  • Mood Enhancers - They have huge purr-sonalities. You are guaranteed to smile and laugh daily when you share your home with a cat.
  • Keep You Moving - They will keep you on your toes, literally, as you try to catch every item they try to knock off the table.
  • Reduce Stress - Just petting a cat lowers stress levels and their soothing purr will melt all your troubles away.
