New Book Says Ex-Prince Andrew Kicked His Dog and Left Her Whimpering
Matthew Russell
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor faces a fresh allegation in an updated royal biography. In Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, author Andrew Lownie claims the former prince kicked his Labrador in the head during a pheasant shoot at Sandringham after the dog grabbed a sausage roll from a guest, People reports.
The alleged moment came during a mid-morning break at the estate. The dog had been beside Andrew. When it jumped for the food, the guest laughed. Lownie’s account says Andrew responded with a kick that left the dog whimpering, according to Reality Tea.

A Guest Reportedly Challenged Him
The book says a friend of the royal family challenged Andrew immediately. Geo News reports that other members of the shooting party appeared to support the guest, while the confrontation grew sharper after Andrew allegedly insisted the dog was his to treat as he wanted.
Jang reports that Prince Philip later sided with the guest. In Lownie’s account, Philip said he and Queen Elizabeth agreed Andrew needed to be reprimanded. The detail lands hard because the late queen’s affection for dogs was central to her public image.

The Queen’s Corgis Add Another Layer
After Queen Elizabeth died in 2022, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson became carers for her last two corgis, Muick and Sandy, People previously reported. That connection now sits uneasily beside the new Labrador allegation.
It also puts private conduct and public privilege in the same frame. The alleged victim was not a palace rival or a political opponent. It was a dog that took food during a country shoot.

Another Scandal In A Long Fall
The allegation arrives after King Charles moved to strip Andrew of royal titles and remove him from Royal Lodge in 2025, The Guardian reported. The palace said Andrew would be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and would move to private accommodation at Sandringham.
The Royal Observer reports that the new claim has revived attention on his life at Sandringham, the same estate tied to the alleged incident. Andrew has not publicly responded to the dog claim. People reported that he did not answer its request for comment, and Buckingham Palace no longer comments on matters involving him.
For animal lovers, the allegation is simple and ugly. A dog took food. A powerful owner allegedly answered with force. The setting may be royal. The issue is not.
