Saffron had just come into the world when she found herself in a fight for survival. Her mother had been rescued from severe neglect while heavily pregnant and in poor health. When Saffron was born, complications during delivery left the newborn foal in critical condition and in urgent need of specialized medical care.
Saffron requires round-the-clock treatment, including plasma transfusions, IV support, medications, and specialized neonatal care. Veterinarians are working tirelessly to help her overcome a serious condition, known as Neonatal Maladjustment Syndrome, while also supporting her mother so the pair can remain together during recovery.
