I'm Vikram Uberoi, a designer from New Delhi. I specialize in home textiles that feature hand embroidery. Since 1996, I've traveled throughout India to learn from many artisans who embroider.
I love learning about different facets of Indian crafts. I love to travel and have always had a keen interest in visiting other parts of India, where ancient traditional arts are still created. I am a very imaginative person and enjoy combining different art forms in modern décor.
"At first, it was difficult to communicate my ideas for integrating handcrafted textile work into my designs. I'd sit with the artisans, working side by side with them, and they gradually began to understand my concepts.
"Being an avid traveler, I find inspiration in the locations and landscapes I've visited. I design from my imagination and skilled artisans interpret my work.
"I design in my own workshop where a few artisans help me. However, most of the crafting is done in different parts of India and then finished in my workshop.
"I use traditional materials like fine silk embellished with silk embroidery. My designs feature Kashmiri and Mughal jamawar patterns.
"I've faced a lot of hardships in this process, but I want to create exclusive designs and expand my craft skills all over the world. I want to exhibit the masterful work of the artisans who collaborate with me. They not only earn money for their families but also get a chance to showcase their beautiful artwork to the world."

NOVICA was started with a dream to create a better world for artisans, because a better world for artisans is a better world for all.
Along the way, the founders of NOVICA discovered something very important - as artisans around the world succeeded, there was also a visible and profound impact on the communities around them.
Your purchases are that powerful. They directly and indirectly provide for education, help with health care, fund basic needs, support children, preserve disappearing arts, and of course, spread happiness around the world.
The founders of NOVICA had a vision of the future that is not one of mega factories producing cookie cutter products for all to cheaply consume. Instead, a bright future that celebrates artisans who take the time to create an item by hand. A future where time is protected, where stories are told, where unique details are honored. Love, respect, inclusiveness become driving force.
