One of the pets who received donations through Rescue Box is Daisy and her pack of puppies that came to the Fur Fun Rescue in Lisbon, IA. The rescue received two pallets of dog food from the Greater Good Charities food bank, freeing up funding for essential medical care. Mama Daisy and her pups were lovingly cared for and when ready, they were put up for adoption. Mama Daisy was adopted right away! Seven of her pups have also been adopted, and two are ready and waiting for their forever homes.
In 2019 we launched a new way to make a difference, our Benefit Buy program. You can choose the cause you're passionate about and fund supplies that go directly to our charitable partners.
In 2007, the Rescue Rebuild program launched and since then, your contributions have totalled over $876,000 to build or renovate animal shelters. The program strives to make shelters a more welcoming place for animals and to encourage interaction between pets and adopters. They focus on enriching the lives of the pets through building play yards, outdoor enclosures, and free roaming rooms for cats.
This before & after is of a shelter in Los Angeles that needed a space for dogs to run and play, so Rescue Rebuild showed up and created a dog park.
Flights To Freedom is dedicated to giving animals in high risk shelters a new chance at life by flying them to states where they have a better chance at adoption. Flights to Freedom saved Sammy, who was at a high risk shelter in Louisiana and was heartworm positive. He was flown to Florida where he received treatment and was able to find a loving family. Thanks to the support of this program, thousands of shelter animals have found their forever homes.
In 2018, seventeen lions and tigers were rescued from an abusive circus in Guatemala and rehomed to a 455 acre wildlife sanctuary in South Africa. These animals that had only known a life of entertaining humans, abuse, and living in cramped metal cages finally got to feel grass under their paws and roam free.
In 2015, the Emergency Animal Medical program was created because it became clear that simple medical procedures were inhibiting the adoption of loving animals across the U.S. Since then, you've helped us raise more than $1 million to provide rescued animals with medical care!
One particular pet we were able to aid was Penelope, who had to receive amputation surgery to remove her back leg, which was sadly damaged beyond the point of repair. She made a full recovery and has since been adopted into a wonderful home of her own.
Together with you, The Animal Rescue Site will keep working to make the world a better place for animals big and small. During the upcoming year, we are focusing on helping animals that are struggling due to the crisis in Ukraine. Ukrainian animal shelters cannot access basic resources and refugees need food and support to care for their pets.
We have currently funded 500,000 tons of pet food to Ukraine that is being distributed amongst animal shelters without access to food and to distribution sites in neighboring countries to support refugees and their pets. This is the equivalent to 4 million meals for pets! A generous anonymous donor is also matching all donations dollar for dollar, up to $50,000!
