California City Animal Shelter is a small city shelter run the Police Department. It is staffed by 1 full time animal control officers, 2 part time kennel workers and a few volunteers. The shelter has 18 dog kennels and 14 cat cages. The city is 203.6 sq miles mostly open desert and has become, unfortunately a dumping ground for pets that owners no longer want. This shelter/animal control only serves the California City area. This shelter does not take pets from surrounding areas, such as Boron, N Edwards, etc, only from California City residents.Our shelter is located in a very rural area with limited foot traffic.Out of area adoptions/rescues are allowed and always welcome!
