URGENT: Record-Breaking Heat Threatens Lives of People and Pets.

As temperatures rise across the United States, wildfires and other heat-related disasters have put millions at risk this summer. Deaths due to extreme heat are among the highest compared to other natural disasters, and impacted cities have cancelled outdoor events and opened cooling centers for unhoused people to lower this risk.

Heat-related wildfires in New Mexico forced entire towns to leave their homes due to evacuation orders, while extreme temperatures and resulting fires all across the country are impacting countless other people and pets. With thousands of people and pets already displaced from their homes, the need for help is incredibly urgent. Greater Good Charities is assessing the need with partners across the nation to continue to provide supplies, financial support, and care packs. Food, vaccines, beds, toys, and other necessities have also been sent to animal shelters to help them take in more pets during heat waves.
